BBSO Solar Activity Report 28-FEB-2004 19:12:00 UT
Partly cloudy with north winds and fair seeing at best.

Solar activity has remained mostly low with multiple C-class events from NOAA 0564 and NOAA 0567. Solar activity is expected to remain about the same with C-class events from both regions. NOAA 0564 is capable of producing a M-class event.

NOAA 0563, S23W38. Decaying plage.

NOAA 0564, N14W53. Beta-gamma region. Region has decayed slightly from yesterday but still has some strong mixing. Region has producing several low level C-class events. Expect C-class events with a chance for a M-class event.

NOAA 0565, S04W32. Decaying simple beta region.

NOAA 0567, S13E39. Growing beta region with some mixing. Region has produced several low level C-class events. C-class events possible.

NOAA 056-, S17W20. Small beta region.

Partly cloudy, winter storm last night.

Solar activity has increased with an X1.1@02:03 UT from NOAA 0564. Region has continued to develope and now contains a delta configuration with strong gradients. Another X-class event is possible from NOAA 0564.

NOAA 0562, S12W21. Decaying plage.

NOAA 0563, S23W11. Single stable sunspot.

NOAA 0564, N14W26. Beta-gamma-delta. Region continues to develope and now has a delta configuration with strong gradients. Region produced an X1.1@02:03UT. Expect C-class and M-class events with a chance for another X-class event.

NOAA 0565, S05W05. Slowly growing simple beta region.

NOAA 0566, N05W07. Decaying plage.

High thin clouds but expecting winter storm to move in later.

Solar activity has increased slightly with NOAA 0564 producing multiple C-class events with the largest being a C8.0@12:25 UT. Expect C-class events with a chance for a M-class event from NOAA 0564.

NOAA 0563, S24E03. Small single sunspot.

NOAA 0564, N15W10. Beta-gamma-delta region. Region has grown in sunspot area and count with only a slight change in magnetic complexity. A small delta configuration exists in the large trailing sunspot. Region has produced multiple C-class events. Expect C-class events with a slight chance for a M-class event.

NOAA 0565, S04E12. Growing beta region. Simple beta region with growth in sunspot area and count from yesterday.

NOAA 0566, N05E11. Decaying plage.

Solar activity has decreased with only low level activity out of NOAA 0564. NOAA 0564 has grown slightly in sunspot area but remains about the same in magnetic complexity. C-class events with a chance for M-class activity.

NOAA 0562, S12E19. Small single sunspot.

NOAA 0563, S23E30. Small single sunspot.

NOAA 0564, N13E16. Beta-gamma-delta. Region has been quiet today but produced numerous C-class events yesterday. Region has grown slightly in sunspot area but not in magnetic complexity. C-class events with a good chance for a M-class event.

NOAA 056-, S05E37. Rapidly growing beta region.

Solar activity has increased due the the rapid developement of NOAA 0564. NOAA has developed into a beta-gamma-delta region and is expected to produce C-class and M-class events.

NOAA 0561, N02W25. Decaying plage.

NOAA 0562, S13E35. Small single sunspot.

NOAA 0563, S24E41. Middle size single sunspot.

NOAA 0564, N14E32. Beta-gamma-delta region. Region has rapidly developed into a beta-gamma-delta region with two strong mixing in the middle sunspots. Region has produced three C-class events today. Expect C-class and M-class events.

NOAA 0551, S06W37. Beta-gamma region. Region remains mostly unchanged from yesterday. Some mixing. C-class events possible.

NOAA 0554, S08E42. Beta-gamma region. Region remains mostly unchanged, slight decrease in magnetic complexity. C-class events.

NOAA 0555, S14E62. Small single sunspot in old extended plage.

Solar activity has been at a moderate level with NOAA 0554 producing a M1.2 event at 02/08/20:51 UT and nine C-class events. Expect C-class with possible low level M-class events to continue from NOAA 0554.

NOAA 0549, N13W46. Slowly decaying beta region.

NOAA 0551, S06W24. Beta-gamma region. Region remains mostly unchanged from yesterday. Possible weak delta configuration exists in the large trailing sunspot. C-class events with a slight chance for a M-class event.

NOAA 0554, S08E52. Beta-gamma-delta. Weak delta configuration located in the middle section. Region produced a M1.2 late yesterday. Expect C-class events with a chance for further low level M-class events.
